This is a remake of a Nipponese film with Wes Craven collaborating on the script. The cinematography and EFX were good and it wasn't so cornball with overtly scary stuff. The biggest overall improvement to the story would be to make it a story about adults and not a college kids. The plot would really support grown up actors and it would have made it a bigger movie, IMO.

How about keeping the original ending? It was shown to test audiences that complained the ending (similar to the orginal's ending) was too depressing. They immediately went back and redid the ending.
I haven't seen it yet, but will. LOVE the original.
