This is the third time I am traversing this superb mini-series on DVD and I am more impressed than ever. Each episode is like a feature film. Wonderful writing, direction, acting, and story. The DTS sound is frightening in its realism. Particularly touching is the way in which each episode opens with the recolections of the actual participants. Tome Hanks and Stephen Spielberg executive produced and Hanks directed one segment. Oh, and the score is magnificent as well. A great introduction of on the ground WW II combat for young people. Recommended.
Follow Ups:
Going on the assumption it's a fairly accurate detail of what happened and how things were, I really enjoyed it as it served more as a history lesson to me. At first I was bummed to see David Shwimmer (sp?) from the TV series Friends but almost immediately forgot about his goofy role in Friends and saw he can be a serious actor - not that he didn't take his role in Friends seriously. His part called for him to be tough and sometimes came across as an asshole to his now lower ranking friends. Me thinks he pulled it off very well. Don't recall the guy from Office Space in there but I'll be watching this series again soon as I borrowed it so will pay attention to his part.

I enjoyed this one as well. Although I struggled with accepting the guy from Office Space as a soldier. I kept waiting for him to pull out his TPS reports!
He did a good job in Band of Brothers, but Office Space was one of the few comedies that was strangily moving for me..
I see the metal box has gone on sale at Walmart.
It's now 59.95.I think I paid 89.99 when it came out.Everyone should have this.
