Homicide Detective Denzel Washington is partners with good old boy John Goodman and he is inverstiagting a series of copyct murders similar to those committed by a now executed criminal who Washington had caught. with the help of a young female theology student Washington begins to suspect that the murders are the handiwork of demons who can inhabit human's bodies and cause them to commit murders and other crimes. By a simple touch they can pass from one body to another and stay alive for one breath if the inhabited body is killed. There are a couple of genuinely scary moments but toward the end things become predictable until a real surprise ending. Bery effective use of msuic and sound hroughout. Donald Sutherland and James Gandolfini also are in the cast.

Disappointing, after a damned good first 45 minutes.
Agreed, this is one of my favorite movies as far as being watchable and entertaining. No, it is not Citizen Kane but more of a fun film with a great idea and a very solid effort all around...I really liked the ending...
Interesting plot, tricky, well acted. Denzel scored big in "Devil in the Blue Dress", also. Late 40's L.A., well done, and Cheadle's first big appearance.
