I watched these back to back last night, having purchased them on sale yesterday. Each is based on a James Patterson novel and both star Morgan Freeman as a forensic psychiatrist attached to the Washington D.C. Police Department. In each he is on the trail of a pychpathic kidnaper of females, many in the first, one in the second. In each he teams with a white female, Ashley Judd in "Kiss..." and Monica Potter in "Along...". Each is filmed in the dark style used by Gordon Willis in the "Godfather" films and each has a few plot twists which jerk the story in different directions. Of the two I would say that "Kiss" is the better film, probably because it has less plot holes and because of Judd's acting. But I did enjoy each one.
Follow Ups:
...interesting and good summer reading - before Patterson became the Thomas Kinkade* of writing."Kiss the Girls" is both the better book and film.
One problem - the lead character in the books is more Denzel Washington than Morgan Freeman.
*Kinkade, also known as the "Painter of Light", has an assembly line in a big warehouse in No. CA where he has numerous helpers and assistants add touches to his paintings, prints and designs which are sold in Kinkade galleries everywhere. Patterson, writing with assistants, comes out with a new book about every 2 months now.
