Some friends have invited me to go and see M. Night Shyamalan's 'Lady in the Water' tomorrow.
I can't refuse to go since it would be taken badly.
You see, I hate this director.
I saw the first two of his films; Sixth Sense wasn't too bad, the second (Unbreakable) was dumber but I persisted with the Village and hated it, didn't want to see Signs (or was it Circles?)and I really don't like Paul Giamatti, (hold on, I admit he's a great actor, it's just visceral with me - he reminds me of those Richard Dreyfuss type actors.)
Shit.
The up side is that we're going to a Quebecois restaurant after.

...is that M. Night, himeself, plays a main character who will save eventually the world.
It will be a loooong night.

  Oh wow! Isn't it funny how his 'first films' that are on the DVD releases of his films (and pretty damn funny, might I add) don't seem to have this element to them.
  Someone should tell him that Hitchcock appeared in nearly all of his films, but he never saved the day.

    Hey, look at the bright side, ...it M-I-G-H-T just be a great, fantastic, wonderful flick & all the negative noise could be wrong. BUT, if it's half as bad as the folks around here are saying and a consensus of reviewers at Rotten Tomatoes has opined, ...well, you have my sympathy.
    Here's a thought: Try slipping out when your friends aren't looking (or when they've dozed off) and catch The Descent (I've seen that one; it's worth the effort) or The Illusionist (I haven't seen that one, but the buzz is quite good);, ...and if all else fails, there's always ...ta-dah!... Snakes on A Plane! :o)

      Yes, I saw the Descent and enjoyed it - one of the better B movie 'horror' flics of the year.

  I don't know what they have on the menu but it won't be snails for me.
  Whelks with Pernod sauce to start maybe, but then I want to try a tourti�re with chutney since I like meat pies.
