I took quite a bit of beating for sticking this one in the queue in the midst of all the Seinfeld episodes, and then I had to contend with some angry sighs and nasty remarks for the duration of the film... women! But on second look I have to largely agree with the lady - Pasolini is like a guy with good voice who never learned any songs. Best he can do is hum some children tunes...
Some breathtaking cinematography in this one, but overal the rusult is mediocre, even if memorable.
Girotti is great, though... too bad about his career...
A bit of trivia - did you know Anne Wiazemsky, who played the daughter, is the granddaughter of François Mauriac and was once married to Jean-Luc Godard?
I only remember her in Balthazar.
Follow Ups:
Comizi d'Amore the same weekend and confused the titles. Really.
I meant to say your wife would find the documentary Comizi interesting because it's a very entertaining snapshot of post-WWII Italy, actually of the early 60s: Pasolini roams throughout Italy (including Calabria and Sicily!) and asks the man and woman on the street (and on the beach) their opinions on human... reproduction. The frankness of many respondents is unexpected.
I owe you a rental and your wife a large apology.
I'm an idiot.
Vic: one rental.
Patrick: two bottles.
The list grows...
Funny part is I do not regret getting the Teorema... all that Seinfeld was beginning to get on my nerves!
