Well, the writers of this (and Super Troopers) sure did and it was one of the funniest scenes I've encountered in a long while . . . utterly stupid, nonsensical, and unnecessary---I loved it!This is the kind of shortcircuited fratboy humor the flick was all about. If you've still got a fratboy hiding in the recesses of your brain this is the movie/genre for you.
Not only did Donald Sutherland have a cameo but Cloris Leachman and Jurgen Prochnow destroyed their last bit of thespian crediability by appearing. Ironically, there were TWO references to Das Boot that went completely over the head of the young audience, yep, I was the lone laugher.
I cannot reccomend this movie at all but I laughed a lot. It was my kind of dumbass humor. For you monocle wearers I must warn you: there is no symbolism, metaphors, or great hidden philosophical messages . . just lots of guys drinking, burping, falling down, and an occassional flash of bosom. Good stuff, actually.
