BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- ``Gladiator,'' Hollywood's high-tech return to the glories of Rome, led Academy Awards contenders Tuesday with 12 nominations, including nods for best picture, actor and director.

I haven't seen most of the films nominated for Best Picture, but I've seen "Gladiator" and hope is doesn't win. "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", the other nominated film that I've seen, was much more enjoyable.
