and in that regard Streisand IS the last of the great Hollywood stars. With regard to her acting ability, I would ask if you have seen either Funny Girl, Nuts or The Way We Were? When you've seen those films we can talk about her acting ability...When it comes to her singing, I won't even bother to have a discussion with you on that score as her talent is legendary and needs no discussion. She has always referred to herself as an actress that sings...William Friedkin once described what she does when she sings...and that is she creates "sound pictures". To me, outside of Sinatra and Garland she is/was the premier singer/entertainer of the 20th century and to many is regarded as such. I've loved her since I was a 12 yo boy watching her on the big screen in Funny Girl. There is an innocence and vulnerability in that performance that I personally find very appealing. I've learned through my years of faithful devotion that she certainly evokes a reaction in most people be it either positive or negative. Her philanthropic work in the areas of politics and ecology are just further evidence of her commitment to the world at large and I respect that...
Follow Ups:
Bawwwbwa is just Bette Midler with a tad more taste.

was the last great Hollywood star.
Keaton, Clayburgh, Streep are what, chopped liver? (I'm being kind and just listing three).
I am not a fan of Diane Keaton's.....Talk about a woman with eccentricities....Annie Hall is a HIGHLY OVERRATED film and NOT WA's best work IMHO. But IMO WA's best films are ones that he is NOT in!!!! (see Interiors) Jill Clayburgh?!?!?! What are you drunk and this time I'M being kind!
