In Reply to: Your enjoyment no doubt was in part due to very high caliber of actors in that film posted by Victor Khomenko on September 29, 2006 at 14:57:51:
He was excellent, striking just the right note of skepticism and professionalism. Messenger, one of the scientists shown in the film within a film, was very powerful in such a small role.
Burton also is memorable. Very much so. His aging was done so skillfully it is indetectable whether in real life he really was younger or older?
The weak links were the father and mother. She especially was terrible...
Very small quibbles, though, in what is one of the finest sci-fi films of all, and a great film, period.
Follow Ups:
***Burton also is memorable.I presume you mean Berton - played by Dvorzhetsky... I love that actor! He didn't live to be 40... shame...
The guy who plays Sartorius also was in the Mirror, another great talent.
Banionis is incredible, but I don't see any of his films availabe here.
But get off the subject - AuPh is getting really restless!
magnificent talent to leave us so soon.
I don't, but I will try to find out when I have time.I always loved him, his unusual cold face with deep emotions hidden under icy appearance.
Perhaps his best role was general Khludov in "Beg" based on Bulgakov's material. I think it might be available with English subs, so I highly recommend it. The film itself is not great in my view (although very nightly rated on imdb), but there are wonderful performances. Would be a very nice new branch from mainstream to investigate, I think.
that played Messenger?
