OK this isn't what we usually talk about, but I came in this evening and it was on cable.
As maybe we a;; have I had enjoyed the Alien series and had seen at least the first Predator.
Now I grew up seeing a lot of schlock horror and monster films... vampires and the original Toho Co, Godzilla films and loved them, both as straight entertainment and as metaphor.
But I didn't expect a lot from this but settled down with a nice bottle of wine for a night's entertainment.
IT WAS CRAP.

Sorry,
I liked it, can't help myself! It was really bad, but I could name many
I paid money to watch that were much worse. Sphere, Event Horizon, and a hundred more. It's a shame, too. The Alien was developed in a series of scifi books.
It was created by an advanced race to fight a war. It won the war, and then ate it's creators.Humanity has never had much luck eradicating parasites, and Alien is an intelligent parasite. In one book a single Alien gets to Earth and breeds with astonishing speed. By the time humanity realizes what is going on
and starts nuking them, it's too late. They are dug in, and all nukes do is postpone the inevitable.

Hi,
the link takes you to Amazon, from that page you can find the rest easily enough.

I thought Predator out-acted Alien and feel he should have received the Oscar instead of her. :)
Yea. Alien does good work in limited spaces, or underwater, where method acting is not real useful. Predator was much better where he (she?) has room to express himself - he is more dynamic an actor.
