Saw this last night on DVD.Not what I expected, which was a vague dyke dresses as a boy and tries to score straight girls thing.
Nope, it was a seriously mentally and socially handicapped dyke dresses as a boy and tries to score straight girls thing.
Except that she falls into the wrong crowd (imagine that!) and things go from bad to worse.
A riveting movie, but also one with a high queasy quotient. Like, you want to rinse your brain out with boiling water afterwards.
How is it that so many movies nowadays make one feel like the world is going to hell in a handbasket? Not in the cheesy Schwartzenager way, but even in relatively well-done movies like this, where you think that you should lock your doors at night and home school your kids.
Follow Ups:
The "Schwartzenager" way of dealing with life's problems: Keep a positive outlook on life, try your Damnedest to make things better, don't bitch and complain that the world isn't what you would like it to be. We didn't have any school shootings in the '80s... My opinion? Being a rightwinger is not a bad thing! :)
I quite liked that movie, one of my favorites of that year. More or less about the intolerance of many and the difficulty of being, decidedly, different. Great Hilary Swank performance.Doug Schneider

I think the world has been going to hell since the Clockwork Orange in the early 70s.
"Andre Linoge" = "A Nerd Legion"?Thought I'd give Stephen King fans a shot.
