  is one of his older films that is really good and often not mentioned. Almost all of his newer stuff is terrific, he is one of the best directors alive and is very consistant at producing very high quality films one after another.

  Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is probably the best place to start and his most classic film and well recognised effort (pass the gespacho). FWIW Tie Me Up Tie Me Down is one of his worst movies IMO though I have seen it more than once...

    and you'll likely enjoy the rest of Almodovar's films; he actually seems to be improving as he goes along
    He even makes Penelope Cruz look good ( !! )
