This was a good, entertaining crime movie. What's wrong with that? Okay, would the real FC try to imitate a rat? Noooooo, but who cares? I thought the script was rather crisp and I really enjoyed the "F@@K YOU" dialog. (You can only talk like that in the military and in law enforcement.)I was disappointed with Wahlberg's one-dimensional character (overdone) and wonder if he was out of control or if the script just didn't cooperate?
I was surprised at how things turned out and at the end of the day I'm still glad not to be a cop or a crim.
Follow Ups:
I absolutely loved the Wahlberg character. His Boston accent was spot on and he had a kind of animal viciousness in his portrayal of that rough hewn, but ultimately decent cop.
Yes, his and Damon's Bahston accents were indeed spot on. When you come from there it's easy to do. When you don't, watch out.
should have been cast in the DiCaprio role.
See "Infernal Affairs" and see it done "right."
I bet Scorsese wanted to cast like that but DiCaprio wanted the juicier role.
Of course, the film has lots of other fatal flaws.
Good entertainment, yes, but life's too short to waste on trashy remakes of excellent films.
