Not the story of my lovelife but a Spike Lee joint from 2 or 3 years ago.
I watched it with increasing disbelief a couple of days ago.
The story concerns an executive with drug company who blows the whistle on some bad deeds and gets sacked and suffers extreme financial sabotage.
Hearing of his plight his ex-fiance turned lipstick lesian asks him to impregnate her and her lover and to pay him for it. She then brings round an increasing circle of other child wanting lesbians who not only all become pregnant within a month but who all appear to undergo at least partial conversions to heterosexuality because of his talent in bed. Add to this the fact he is servicing up to 5 women in an evening.
Called before an SEC hearing he is not only given free range to voice his opinions on the bad results of whistle blowing after being asked about (apparently false) evidence about his part in the crimes, but experiences a fantasy about catching the Watergate burglars.
At the end of the film both his ex-fiance and her lover appear to be about to embark on a menage a trois now they have sen the error of their exclusively lesbian ways.
I have rarely watched such bilge.
From Spike Lee I am bewildered.
Even the usually wonderful Monica Bellucci is reduced to playing a Mafia-daughter whose father likes to quote overlong sections of The Godfather in an attempt to confuse the audience about what is happening. After this it is felt neccessary to point out explicitly that the words are from The Godfather...
This film is literally excruciatingly bad.
There is also a series of animated sequences where sperm with our heroes face swim upstream looking for an egg.
I will not go into details of the part which deals with actual conception...
Its no wonder I have no memory of it playing at a cinema. I might hace slept straight through it.
Avoid this film like the plague.
Follow Ups:
A misfire all around.Inside Man, 25th Hour and the HBO documentary "When The Levee Breaks" are much more indicative of Lee's filmcraft - which is considerable.
I have enjoyed just about everything else he has made but especially considering his politics, where this piece of trash comes from, even described as comedy, which is no excuse for the sexist and downright racist content here.
Does this film really say that all it takes is a big black dick to turn lesbians straight???!!!
Inexplicable!
...I can't figure this one. If it was intnded to be satire...
... you get the picture.
