My pick is Trees Lounge. Here is a movie that begins and ends with the camera focused on the exact same spot. It is a bar stool in Trees Lounge and at the beginning of the movie an old drunk is sitting in it waiting to die.He dies.
The main character is a complete fuck up. And at the end of the movie, having screwed up his life, the main character is sitting in the same seat the old drunk was sitting in at the opening of the movie.
Waiting to die.

I got roped into going to these with friends...why, oh why? I know better.Van Helsing was even worse than I thought it would be and I was expecting it to be awful. The director/screenwriter had the attention span of a gnat (and the movie was paced accordingly) surpassed only by his gift for silliness. The costumes were embarassing. The plotting was hilariously bad, even for an FX flick. Alas, this was not one of the movies so bad it's good - it was so bad it was exhausting.
I went along to Event Horizon because it had Sam Neill in it (whom I adore) and I like sci-fi, even tacky sci-fi (e.g. The Hidden). I knew from the set up it was gonna be a horror movie in outer space (not a deterrent in itself, e.g. Alien). But the last 1/3 was just a gory, repellent mess. I was with people but I walked out.
I never did quite firure out the plot in this movie, vaguely related to some immortality studies using children I guess. The true black and white format (only occasional grayscale)is interesting as an animation technique for about 5 minutes, but by the end of the movie its like chalk scaping on a chalkboard. And what were those two moments with color about anyway?I nearly walked out of this mess of a movie 1/3 of the way through... I've been to perhaps 45 movie in theaters so far this year and this was easily the worst of the lot, with Barnyard coming in a close second.
What is the difference between 'True black and white" and "grayscale" (sic)?
True black and white the only colors used are black and white
Grayscale includes all the grays in between

Couple of teenagers lost in the desert saying "You go this way & I'll go that way" for an hour.
I didn't stay to watch the rest.
Juuuuuust kidding, Victor.
But gee... thanks... I needed a jolt this morning!
...to name but a few.
Walking out after the film someone said "it must have been hell to be there" and without even trying I asked "The war or the film?".
