In Reply to: How is our little Merkava doing? Hope you are not pussy-footing her! posted by Victor Khomenko on November 13, 2006 at 17:03:07:
She's doing just fine Victor. Thanks for asking.I had some body work done to repair a few small rust issues before Winter and its Road Salt gets started and had upper control arms and 750i bushings installed.Rides, handles like a dream smooth and powerfull. No real problematic issues other than the heat/ac blower system being occasionally intermittent. When it finally quits i will attend to its repair but all is well. The link has a few more pictures of it and places in New Hampshire I've driven as well as a few short quicktime clips taken in her.

I actually like the clean engine compartment look on that car... the huge cover gives you the hint on what's underneath.Did you chip it? If not, consider the Dinan one - that's what I had.
That thought occurred to me.Hopefully the local constabulary have better things to do than try and prove who did what, where and when.I did try and chip it.I went to Turner Motor sports in Amesbury ,Ma They use Jim Conforti's chips and they told me they didn't have software to program a chip for my DME.The guess is that when the car had the short block swapped from Nikasil to Alusil under the warranty service they put in a new version specific for either this car or a certain range of the '95 6 speeds.Anyway I've called BMW and they said try a dealership.I called the dealer where the block swap was done in '99 and they said they didn't have anything there, everything would come to them from BMW and i should try talking to their engineering department in Germany. One guy who makes chips said if i could 'read' mine and email him the file he could program one for me.We'll see,lol.. It would be nice.I'll get some engine pix when the sun comes back out. We're in a rainy, cloudy weather pattern here with no real sun forecast till Friday.
Nice shots, thank you! With you took me on that trip... :-(Those wheels look like Rondell 58's - are they? They also seem to be of the same size front and rear, not staggered - correct? From the pics the front rubber seems oversized... what are the tire sizes?
I am sure she's still good for a few more years, great car!
I'll get some.. You are quite observant. Yes they are Rondell 58's and they are 17"x8.5" all a round... they came with the car and i could get 10" for the rears at some point. The front tires are also bigger than the rears yes simply because i needed fronts to pass inspection and am planning on possible getting the 10" rear wheels so since the tread wasn't an issue at the time and the fronts are actually the correct size for the Manufacturer's specifications i got the size closest to what is on the rear which are actually smaller than the specs reccomend so the tire shop suggested i stay within their range. I added one more movie at the bottom on the movie links you lilely missed which gives you a good listen to the engine sound at least.. Personally the engine bay is fairly boring, not as sexy as the M5 with its individual throttle bodies and cast iron valve cover...
