I bought this film, sight unseen, on the basis of a recommendation of a good friend. I'd also been swayed in my decision-making process by no less a luminary than (**Magnolia** and **Boogie Nights** skipper) P.T. Anderson, who's been on something of a comedy kick of late (he's directing...Adam Sandler in a new "89 minute" romantic comedy) and who's extolled the virtues of **Meet the Parents** as a knee-slapper par excellence. Were you stoned and/or wearing a diaper when you saw this movie, Paul?I seriously doubt that there's anything in **Meet the Parents** that warrants a second viewing, let alone a canonization (of sorts) such as it's received. Very disappointing.
An underground Ben Stiller gem that all y'all might wanna check out is **The Zero Effect**, a film that also features Bill Pullman and which was directed by Jake Kasdan. Very, very funny!

I recommend this one as well. My only complaint on this fim is that the pace is slow. But it is well done, interesting, funny, and intelligent.
Really interesting send up of the classic "Sherlock Homles" storyline. Pullman as the brilliant, but slightly insane and drug addled Holmes charachter trying to find his Moriarty, and Stiller playing the frustrated and belittled Watson roll.Great movie.
