A few I've not seen, very reasonably priced. The best, so far, have been Scarlet Street and Killer Bait. Detour was weaker and I'm putting off DOA for last. The set also includes a disc with info about Film Noir with trailers and commentary on stuff like the femme fatale, etc.
Follow Ups:
Consists of The Asphalt Jungle, Gun Crazy, Murder My Sweet, Out of the Past, and The Set-Up. I've not seen the latter one yet. Got it from Columbia House the last time I joined. Recently got another offer to rejoin so it's time to load up on movies.
How much did this set cost?

the recent 2 disk special edition of Double Indemnity is not to be missed.
Thanks for the link and the info. I now have a list of 19 flics that I'm researching. A few are OOP it seems. Then I'll check with the library before buying. I suppose I could get netflix, but I'm not that much of a total movie fan.
The set was on sale last year so I picked it up as part of my membership obligation. It was about $30.00 CDN. Membership involves selecting 5 movies for .49 each plus shipping and you can also buy two others at reduced prices when you sign on. Then you've got 3 years to buy two more movies. Once that's done don't buy anymore and eventually you'll get the same offer again. You get a big sheet of stickers but you can go to the website and choose anything from their stock.
Thanks. I will check them out.
and that's the best of the 3 from what I've seen. Just got the 3rd one on Sunday so I haven't seen it, but you can't beat Asphalt Jungle and Out of the Past.
You've got a good one in Lady in the Lake. It's one of my favorites. As for Out of the Past I'm reminded of what Roger Ebert wrote in his review of 200 Cigarettes. He said there were guns in Out of the Past but the real hostility came when Robert Mitchum and Kirk Douglas smoked at each other. When Robert Mitchum exhaled at a guy, the guy ducked out of the way.
when the innocent girl tells Bob Mitchum that the femme fatale "can't be all bad, nobody is" and Bob laconically replies "She comes closest."
