I think that I felt the film was okay when I first saw it some time ago, but it did not stick with me after the passage of time. Duk's Spring, Summer, Fall..., on the other hand....
I watched Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...Spring recently.I was underwhelmed, to say the least.
The stories were presented literally, superficially. It tells you, instead of engaging you and letting you figure out for yourself.
I read somewhere the director is not a Buddhist (he's a Christian). If true, this could perhaps (but should not) explain why he's able to sketch the forms but not show profoundness of the Buddhist teachings. I'm not a Buddhist but even I can see an opportunity lost.
