I finally saw this and, as expected, it is a competent Hollywood biopic in the tradition of "Ray" and "Seabiscuit" and "Cinderella Man". And as expected, Reese Witherspoon is fantastic as June Carter, Joaquim Phoenix is satisfactory as Cash. The DVD's DTS sound track is spectacular in its dynamic range.

I guess I meant in comparison to Witherspoon's dead on realization of June Carter. Phoenix gave a fine performance.
I was stunned, having watched Johnny Cash for decades, I really did not
think anyone could imitate him that well. Superb acting, I agree with your asessment of the gal, also a superb job. One of the best films ever in it's category.
Hi,
I don't watch many message movies. So I am sure there are other
fine perormances, I didn't see them. So my feelings about the performances are just sort of gneeral sentiments, and not in comparison to other movies. I just have no interest in seeing Idi Amin up close and personal; for example. There has been little I wanted to see this year. I liked Flushed, and Cars was cute and aimed right at my generation.
But they don't seem to be making movies for me anymore.
