Casino Royale was probably the best film ever made, or ever will be made, next to Goldfinger, Dr. No, From Russia with Love, and about twelve other Bond films, maybe. I think that Craig is the best Bond next to Connery, because he is ripped, and what Fleming had in mind (I talk with him every night), except he is a wimp and a girlyman. He shows Bond as a calculated killer, except he has no expression. The film itself was great, except for those parts where it was so stupid. The casino scene was very well acted, and added much to the suspense, except that it was stupid, went on for far too long, and broke up the tension. The Bond girls were the best in any Bond film since Halle Berry lit up the screen as Jinx.
The Bond theme was great, except for the shitty pop tune.
Follow Ups:
Just saw Casino Royale tonight. Was that (Sir) Richard Branson in the airport scene as they were going through security? He was on the right side of the screen getting frisked by the guys with the metal detectors, visible for about 1/4 second. Almost subliminal but I thought I recognized the face. ..further checking on the net confirms my sighting! (Also, one of the planes outside, kind of in the background was a Virgin Atlantic plane, so when I saw that I figured that must have been Branson in the earlier scene.)I thought it was a good movie, more depth and plot twists than the usual Bond installment. And for his first Bond movie, Daniel Craig did a pretty fine job.
.
Grits: "Rewarding, very, very, VERY REWARDING!"
error in the history of movies. Guy from Transporter would have made the best Bond.
I assume you meant the best BOND film ever made.
I immensely enjoyed watching the first four Bond films as each was
released: Dr. No-1962-Joe Wiseman the quintessential villian and
Ursula Andress,VaVaVoom! The Island, The FireBreathing Dragon and of
course, the best Bond, Connery; From Russia With Love-1963;Goldfinger-1964 and Thunderball-1965. After those my interest fell off, even
though I still found most enjoyable, except for the Lazenby one. ~AH
With the exception of Lazenby himself andf the decided lack of chemistry between him and Rigg, OHMSS is one oif the best Bonds IMHO.
thought it was the worst.
