So far, so good. I really exepected a turkey, but thanks to MGM, Saturday night is pretty good movie watching at the DUI house. Wish my DLP had arrived. :-( Stallone does NOT look weird, like he did in the publicity shots, in fact he looks great, just like Rocky. Nice subplots with the little girl he walked home now a woamn with a mixed race son, looks like she and Rocky are going to do the grown up (popcorn break right now). The script is very good, it is in the league of Rocky, far better than II-19. Great turn by some young woman who plays a bar sleezebag trying to con Rocky into buying her a drink (for her boyfriend\pimp?). Will finish review manana.
Follow Ups:
I just watched a piece of fluff about it on TV where Sly says the last one was crap.
A 60 year old fat boxer would never even be allowed into the ring. And it looks like they have someone else doing the press-ups.
This is already shaping up as turkey of the year... no wonder they let Thanksgiving and Xmas go by before releasing it.
Here's a shot of Sly in the new movie...
...and the whole audience laughed at the end.
first half. I like that the little dweeb girl from Rocky III or whatever is now an adult and plays that little girl grown up. The cutemeet is ridiculous. And the tentsion over wheter he and she get something going is gross, she is too young, but he keeps buzzing around that hive. Poor movie.
nt.
The second half of this turkey is terrible. Like "The Long Good Friday" goes from B+ first half to D- second half. Predictable, formulaic, the fight scenes are bad, and the Jim Lampley, Michael Buffer, former referree guy now annoucer, playing themselves is very annoying. How can you trust them in the future when you see them lying to you, acting?? People in positions of responsilbity like that should never act. AND NEVER play themselves. Save your $.
