I too love this film. Certainly a Western that violates the Western Rules which have developed over time. No glorious deaths - you mean men are simply shot and fall over, with no drama? No shooting of ropes from 100 yards while riding a horse?I too loved the humor - Billy Bob Thornton discussing his hair was great. And the Soundtrack by Neil Young perfectly complimented the tone and pacing of the film.

I thought Depps' characters realtionship with the indian was great... also his relationship with himself. In many ways it's a coming of age story. One of my favorite lines was when Depp/Blake happened upon the Marshal's checking out his camp and they asked if he was William Blake and Depp, his transformation now complete, replied "Yes I am. Have you read my poetry?"
I loved it too. I don't see a weak spot in it really. It was classic to see Iggy Pop and BBT together. I love offbeat cinema. Hollywood mainstram is 90% unwatchable to me anymore. I remeber seeing Stranger than Paradise in the theater when it came out......that was more than 20 years ago........geez, where does it go?
