I love both films, but of course prefer Tarkovsky's. My wife tried to watch the original film with me twice, and fell asleep both times durring the "freeway trip" segment.When the Soderberg version came out our son bought it for me. My wife tried to watch it and it put her to sleep almost as quickly...

I want to see the Clooney remake as well. I've even been considering purchasing the Tarkovsky.

If he likes the original film why would he need pillows for the remake which is much shorter and faster paced?
... with the general observation that one gets out of art what one brings to it. Based on my experience, pillows seem appropo for either screening, the difference being the Soderberg version is more like a nap compared to Tarkovsky's Rip Van Winkle-esque coma. :o)
