OK we know it is not Citizen Kane (or even Sideways) but instead a bunch of wacky characters in a weird situation, a drunken husband, an unstable and driven wife, and a gay son who is unloaded onto the wife's shrink to live with him and his family, of course they are all nuts etc. etc. etc.

This movie got lousy reviews and sometimes I agree but when you expect so little it can be a good thing. Mostly I enjoyed this movie, especially the people in it and the things they say, when Gwyneth Paltrow is in a movie and there are three female leads I like better than her, Evan Rachel Wood, Jill Clayburgh and Annette Bening, it is a good thing. Alec Baldwin is solid as usual and Joseph Cross (who plays the main character Augusten Burroughs) was good enough.

OK a wishy washy review for a wishy washy movie, if you are in the mood you might enjoy it.
