I've read many Spanish and Portuguese novels, short stories and, I'm sorry to report, I think too much is made of translating perfection. Assuming it's a decent translator, I have never felt the "original" was much worsened.
Now, poetry or theater is another matter, altogether.
RE: Prevert. No, not very familiar with his works. Thanks to you, I shall attempt to correct that.
