It was an enjoyable film to watch if you're interested in the inner workings of magic shows. It probably won't go down as a classic as the movie itself comes off as Bale's character describes: "never give away the secret of the trick. Once they know the secret, you are nothing to them." The secret was given to the audience therefore the movie becomes less because of it.The gaping plot hole is why did Bale's character go backstage to investigate Jackman's character's trick? Bale *told* Jackman's character the method. The whole premise of the story is deflated. Or is that the point....that the veiwer *wants* to be fooled just like a magic trick.

Bale's character does NOT know how Jackman's character does his Real Transported Man. It is simply not a double, because the Transported Jackman SOUNDS identical to the original Jackman when he speaks. In his initial "Improved Transported Man," they found a double who looked like Jackman, but could not speak like Jackman, and the double had to keep his mouth shut at the end of the trick.
The Bale twins did not know how Jackman's trick was done. When the one Bale twin sent Jackman to Tesla it was meant to be a wild goode chase. Tesla was only the key to the cipher for Bale's notebook. The notebook was purposely left incomplete. Bale's one twin came up with the wild goose chase as an FU. That Tesla was able to come up with a "real" magic trick for Jackman was a fateful plot twist.
