I've seen Satyajit Ray's Apu Trilogy, which was superb. Also enjoyed Mira Nair's work. But on Saturday afternoon cable, all I see are these goofy musical/beach party/dance fever wannabe films. Is there something I'm missing that I should be looking for?
Don't recall seeing anything worth watching since Raj Kapur (I am not sure about the English title, probably "Vagrant"?). Seems all downhill from there. The last one I saw was about that Swadeshi movement - a real dark flop, grossly overrated (can check on the title if interested).
It's called "Five Hours to Rama", about a famous political assassination(!)
It's called "Nine Hours to Rama"(!)
Sometimes I just kill myself with these lines. Other times I should just kill myself. Thanks for the recommendation.
