I'd really like to see "The Young Lions", if for no other reason than to double- check my opinion that Dean Martin could really act.And "If", just to convince myself that school massacres are not a recent juvenile fantasy.
And "The Tin Drum" because I was too stupid to buy a copy when it was available.
And "El Topo", because...well I don't really know.
Anyone care to add to the list of movies which should be on DVD ?
(please, no Star Wars requests, they will be released when Lucas wants an extra few hundred million $)
Follow Ups:
The 300 Spartans
Lawman (Burt lancaster)
Gunfight at OK Corral (Burt & Kirk)
September 1978. Horowitz/Menta/NY Philharmonic performance of Rachmanonoff Third concerto at Avery Fisher Hall.
Wayne Wang's 1993 film of Amy Tan's novel"
Joy Luck Club
187 - starring Samuel L. Jackson, another teacher in a violent high school movie, but I feel this is by far the best one.
Lost Highway - David Lynch dir. Very very strange, trippy movie
The Godfather - we all know this one...
Syndey Pollack's remake of "Sabrina"The Kids in the Hall, "Brain Candy"
Roman Polanski's "Fearless Vampire Killers"
Neil Jordan's "The Company Of Wolves".
Everything by Kurosawa.
"Strictly Ballroom"That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure I could come up with a few more if I weren't so lazy.
I'm surprised Strictly Ballroom isn't out on DVD- a sure fire money maker for the studio!Quite a few of Kurasawa's are available on Criterion, and Ran is out on Fox. I'd like to see Throne of Blood and Kagemusha.
I have the Kurosawa that's out on Criterion -- I think that's only four movies, though (on DVD, anyway; there are more on laser).According to the last Criterion catalog I got, "Dodes' ka-den", "The Hidden Fortress", and "Rashomon" are due out on DVD sometime. The catalog doesn't say when, though.
