After Life is one of the most thought provoking films you will ever see. And I think the references to Solaris are inescapable, but I would like to hear from other Solaris experts.I don't remember who recommended After Life, but I wholeheartedly second that recommendation.
Follow Ups:
I sure hope that the film's Producers don't read your Snorlaris subject-line header or they might resort to spinning the old cylinder for a quick game of Russian roulette in your honor! ;^)
I saw it for the fourth or fifth time a month ago and was just as captivated, noticing things I'd missed in all previous viewings such as the scene outside the building when the young man is on the bench and the mist floats in the air.
The "manager," the alienated young man. All actors were wonderful.
Now, get "Maborishi" and sit down with your wife to watch it.
You'll thank me... (same director)
I started to watch it about a year and a half ago... got about 20 - 25 minutes in and turned it off.I'll have to give it another shot but wait until it feels right to watch it (Solaris sat around for 3 or 4 weeks before it felt like the right time to watch it and really take it in).
I think you should try it again, I found it totally captivating.
This one?

Did you see it?I don't recommend people to read the plot before watching it. The mood will suffer if you do.
