that he was over the top in his younger days. His acting improved when he suffered a huge personal tragedy; he toned down the acting GREATLY. TRT Perdition is my best example.

In addition, he has picked some really good roles in his later years. I understand he plans to make one more film before retiring.
I know, but listen to Ruger Hauer's voice, and look at Hauer's face in the opening few minutes in the car. I AM TELLING YOU!!!! IT is Paul Newman, and the voice is a voice over by Newman."Because I cut off his legs. And arms. And head."
That is Paul Newman's voice, imagine at the same time hearing "Are you crazy? The fall will probably kill you!" Same voice.
In an otherwise forgettable film called "Message in a Bottle" Newman has a coupld of very strong scenes and puts the other actors to shame.
