Can't wait to see it. Just came back from "Memento" and now I know how Brian Wilson feels.
Follow Ups:
***Can't wait to see it. Just came back from "Memento" and now I know how Brian Wilson feels. Our friends could not stop spitting and cursing after that movie - was it really that bad?
Today the festival played a nasty joke with us - we showed up for the "Restless" only to find out that it was moved to tomorrow... well, no Finnish sex tonight, honey...
But there is always some silver lining - on the way back we stopped by our favorite rental place. They sort of ran out of steam lately, but now they are under new ownership and they are moving fast forward. They of course dropped that sweet 5-for-$5 deal, but instead added a whoel new section of new foreign releases. We went by the shelves salivating and took home four - two oldies and two new films. The oldie we saw tonight was the Wertmuller's "Metal Worker and Hairdresser................" - and what a blast of laugh that one is. Definitely recommended.
And I don't know why, but we also brought home the Solaris. I guess the Banionis' charm still strong after all those years. Yep, it IS slow, but there ARE slow evenings...
I have been getting depressed over the decline of the rental business in this "First State", bot now there seems to be new fresh blood running.
And you know what? Vic, the guy who owns it now, is an audiophile too... McIntosh stuff, Van Den Hull, that sort of things.
"Memento" wasn't bad, just a LOT of work for the audience (my friend called it a "total mindf*ck"). If you're not into mental masturbation, then you'll tire quickly and hate it. The basic premise, no short term memory and solving a crime, reminded me of "Clean Slate", an inferior comedy starring Dana Carvey.
