This is an absolute must - an insightful and thought provoking film of an incredible depth.

I have seen only one other work by Krzysztof Zanussi: The Year of the Quiet Sun" and it was just OK, I thought, but this one is simply superb.

I have always maintained that Polish cinema is one of the finest in the world, but perhsps the most underappreciated here, and this film hopefully will break a small hole in the barrier.

Perpahs some day a "Kanal" will seep through that hole...

BRAVO!

That was a rather fine ending to the festival for us. Out of seven films that we saw, only one really was a disappointment - the silly Italian "On the Beach Beyond the Pier" bunch of kaka, the rest varied from good to exceptional.
