Apart from the obvious "Clockwork Orange", have there been any other notable appearances of Hi Fi gear in movies and TV ?Did I see a pair of Martin Logans in an episode of Friends ? (Hey- stop laughing at me- I was surfing across channels and came across them by accident- I said stop laughing damn it!!!)

While the Friends cast has a pair of Martin Logans, they never seem to play them, they're not set up ideally, and I can never tell what electronics they have to drive them.
Alec Baldwin had a massive vinyl collection (mostly "elevator jazz" stuff) in Thick as Thieves. I can't remember what kind of system he had, though. I thought the vinyl thing was pretty cool, as it gave a lot of depth to his character.I also seem to remember that American Psycho had some decent hifi gear in it.
"American Psycho"--KEF speakers and Harman-Kardon separates.
The character James Woods played in "The General's Daughter" had some older Mac stuff.
"Diva"--A Nagra R2R."Indecent Proposal"--VPI TNT turntable.
"Die Hard"--Carver Amazing Loudspeakers.
"Love Potion #9"--Krell KSA 150 and SME/Oracle(?).
"Rock 'N' Roll High School"--Bertagni Geostatic loudspeakers.
and I think Victor mentioned that "The General's Daughter" had BAT gear, but I must've missed it.
I don't remember a Nagra R2R in 'Diva', but I am told that there is more than one film with this title (Hollywood remake?). The 'Diva' that I saw was the 1981 stylish French flick by Jean Jacques Beineix, and this definitely featured a Nakamichi 600 cassette deck. I remember because I used to own one.
...I think a cardboard standup cutout of Matthew Polk in his lab coat was blown to pieces by Sledge Hammer (during the police firing range obstacle course)--one of my favorite TV comedies.

I think there's some discussion of this in the archive. First instance that comes to my mind is Gene Hackman's mono tube amp in "The Conversation." And there's the interesting scene in "The Rock" when Nicolas Cage touts the superiority of vinyl after spending $300 on a Beatles LP. The same scene was cut from the video release. Don't know if it made it to the DVD.
It's right there on the original VHS (NTSC-coded US paperback edition). But I recall he paid 600, not 300.And another A-V flashback to add: Colonel Toulouse's office in 'The Tall Blonde with a Black Shoe'. What kind of vinyl player he had I don't recall, but it was very impressive. Sorry he had to leave it all and run in Part 2. Not to mention the Studer Revoxes in the spywagon, this you can see in hundreds of movies.
Hmmm. There must be more than one version on videotape. If I could stand to sit through "The Rock" again, I'd check.

Maybe the staff at the local video store will just let me view it there. "Hi, I'm from the vinyl LP preservation society. I hear you have a specially-edited copy of 'The Rock' that some of our members may find offensive. Some Beatles fans may be offended as well. Gotta check, it's the law."
