I've seen most of those, but there are a few I haven't(The Desperadoes, Badman's Territory, One-eyed Jacks). I'll add them to my video rental list. More Westerns that I like are "Destry Rides Again", "Winchester 73", and "Support Your Local Sheriff". Trivia question: What feat of marksmanship do those last two movies I mentioned have in common?
Was it shooting a bullet through an existing hole in a tossed coin? Loved both of those "Support Your Local..." films, especially Walter Brennan, Bruce Dern, and Joan Hackett. James Garner never made it to Australia.
You are correct! Actually, it was a washer in Support Your Local Sheriff and a piece from an Indian's necklace in Winchester '73 that the bullets passed through the center holes of.
I still prefer the smiley-face in Lethal Weapon
In one of the "dollars" films, Lee Van Clief and Clint are in the street, and Clint gets his hat shot off. Each time he goes to pick it up, it gets shot further down the street, until Van C misses....how refreshing to see the gunfighter miss once in a while.
Great scene you have it backwards. Eastwood shoots Van Cleef's hat off then keeps shooting it down the street as he tries to pick it up until he misses. Van Cleef then takes out his pistol and shoots Eastswood's hat off from that distance and hits it four or five times while it's still in the air.
I'm still trying to figure out why the hats do not have any holes in them when they have a drink afterwards. Also, their boots are shiny and not "scuffed up" anymore. Ahhhh....the continuity of film....Tom §.
P.S. I'm sorry to ask but, why does the hat make a whistling sound when it finally falls to the ground?
Someone should start a thread on movie mistakes. I seem to recall a windshield that repaired itself in Twister. Must have come from the same store where they got the hats. Um...the whistle...that was...uh...a weird echo caused by the whistling gun that Van Cleef used in the movie.
Hmmm....anything to do with a bullseye?Got one for you: in "Lolita", how did Humbert visualize the board when
playing chess with Gaston? - AH
Which is better, the version with Jeremy Irons or James Mason?
Oops! Sorry, the passage is from the book, not the movie! Here it is for
your info: "In my chess sessions with Gaston, I saw the board as a square
pool of limpid water with rare shells and stratagems rosily visible upon
the smooth tessellated bottom, which to my confused adversary, was all
ooze and squid-cloud." - page 233, 2nd paragraph.
Haven't seen the remake, but hope to soon, will let you know what I think
of it compared to the original. - AH
