Yes, I have seen it and would rate it good, but not higher. They have some excellent actors - Menshikov is first class - but overall it is a bit like a painting you buy at your craft show.I agree that certain elements are simply chilling and very true. like the disappearance of the old lady. Some details crystal clear - like the toilet seats on the wall, one per family in that communal apartment, next to the light switches - again, one per family... But I am not sure many folks would catch all those sub-stories. Without them great deal is going to be lost.
All in all, I am glad they made a film like that. But somehow I am longing for a completely dry and truthful film about those times, with less of that nasty Hollywood flavor (stench really) that East-West unfortunately has. Truth is, that time was so cruel that it doesn't need any flavoring.
