Swordfish is a major disappointment. Watch this gross fall faster than the stock market in one or two weeks when the word gets out. The crimes we witnessed were not film's storyline but more about the bad direction by Dominic Sena and equally horrible writing of Skip Woods. I should have see it coming with the stupid title flickering and the 1/4 inch depth of field on John Travolta's face in the first 3-4 minutes, but that's just the begining. It gets worse, pure merde!
Follow Ups:
Swordfish has more than that mistake. The plausibility of the whole film goes right out the window after only the first few moments. It's dissapointing because Travolta's speech at the begin actually mocks Hollywood for how bad many films are -- then they do the exact same thing!Doug Schneider
...to my favorite critic, Duncan Shepherd:
Halle Berry's boobs, David Duchovny's buns. Swordfish and Evolution, respectively, in their promotional nutshells. Anything else about them?
The first one is a deplorable high-tech, high-impact, high-explosive thriller, the opening lines of which -- "You know, the problem with Hollywood is they make shit. Unbelievable, unremarkable shit" -- apparently hope to summon up some preventative voodoo. Or hope at the very least to beat you to the punch.
There's more... Follow the "Movie" trail.clark
...stop making movies for awhile! Your last three "sucked dead bears" and your recent film career is paralleling Frank Stallone's. Try a sitcom again, or host a talk show, or just plain fishing or bowling. McVeigh's death may have had a greater sense of public closure if he was forced to watch "Battlefield Earth", "Lucky Numbers", and "Swordfish" in succession.
