In Reply to: Blade Runner Original on DVD? posted by Greg on May 12, 1999 at 13:38:17:
Not yet. I have the directors cut but I don't like it as much as the original narrated one.
I saw a version of Blade Runner in a theater in which Deckard has a dream about a unicorn. It was a scene that looked like it was taken from Ridley Scott's film "Legend". Is this in the director's cut?
Yes, the unicorn scene is in the Directors Cut but not in the original release. I have the directors cut but am searching for the "original" DVD version to replace my tired VHS copy.Thanks,.
This gets complicated. In the VHS and DVD of the Directors Cut, the unicorn scene is in it. However, due to the studio wishes and early screening critism, there are actually 4 (I believe) different versions of BR. I am looking for the original "happy ending" version on DVD. The Directors cut loses the happy ending and the narrative voice over.
That is what I prefer as well. Need to wait and shell out some more $$.
I have the Director's Cut but don't remember that sequence. This is another area I dislike, too many different versions.
...my cousin went to a special screening of the "Director's Cut" a few months ago at the famous Cinerama Dome theater in Hollywood. This version nixed the narrative, but there was no unicorn dream. So I'm wondering how many versions of this film are in theater distribution or available on home video? I have the original on Criterion Laser CAV.
