Follow Ups:
1. sailor survives his ships sinking, only survivor. comes back on a different ship. they hear sounds like someone survived and is in the ship. the sounds drive the survivor crazy...
2. the one with old lead bottom
that was a roomful of clocks with wires and cables criss-crossing all over the place? That scene sticks in my memory like some sort of... stuck memory thing.

Good list AudioHead. But, how about the episode entitled "Walking Distance". Staring Gig Young, with the usual top-notch TZ production values of terrific cinematography, set design, and another stunning score by Bernard Herrmann (also in "The Lonely"). Many consider "Walking Distance" the single best episode of TZ ever produced.
I remember that episode, especially the part when Gig met himself as a child.
Moderately entertaining to me.
For the record, "The Lonely" is my all-time favorite. As for the
objective best, I think that there were so many outstanding, high
quality episodes, that to label any particular one the best would be
unwise.

I don't know it by name, but my favourite is the one with Burgess Meredith, where the world is blown-up and he is left alone with all the books in the world to read (which is, for him, a good thing), then he drops his glasses and they break - painful irony!
