I was only about 9 or 10 when it came out... I still remember the flying spaceship in shape of a huge rock head. Was weed better than Or were these directors on LSD? What ever the case... the movie was a trip at the drive in.

I don't know, but I was when I saw it the first time. It was just as weird when I saw it straight too.
I watched this movie about four times when I was snowed in during the January storm of 1996 (30 inches in Philadelphia).I still don't get it.
Zardoz was a terrific satirical hoot directed by the very talented John Boorman. It became a cult in our expanded minds. It had some great lines in it. "Is this your God's house? Ah, yes, Gods and Goddesses, Kings and Queens, but there's only one thing wrong, they are all dead." Now I am started, "What about the stars? That's what this Tabernacle was built for, we went to the stars, another dead end." Or, "What's Arthur Fran been up to out there in the Outlands?"drobo
