At or about the middle of the DVD movie (Criterion) (just before the pearls are stashed in Godfrey's bed) every scene change: one second before, the pic gets far less clear and more grainy, (though the contrast remains exactly the same) then one second after, the picture SNAPS back to fine resolution. Every scene change (except the fades and black moment) has this artifact up to near the end. Has anyone else noticed this? I have a Technics DVD-A10 composite to Sony 36XBR400. Never saw anything like this before.... I tried to post to Crit's problem thingy, on site, but their system is screwed up and I could not get through.
Follow Ups:
When watching older movies in theatres I have occasionally noticed changes in the picture's texture/colour tone when dissolving. I don't know if this is what you describe, but if so, it probably is due to the nature of the source material and not the DVD transfer.Best,
Thom
Clearly (if you could see it) the artifacts are some creation of the digitalization/repair of the movie.
