I saw "Candy" in San Franciso in 1968 upon initial release and recall
be entertained and laughed throughout. But haven't seen it since
then, so would have to see it again to recommend it's current
funniness. Also enjoyed the novel. I do recommend you go to www.
amazon.com where the DVD is available, and to read the customer
reviews, which seem to be mostly favorable. There are also reviews
at www.imdb.com where the overall rating is rather low. - AH
Follow Ups:
"I saw "Candy" in San Franciso in 1968 upon initial release"So did I, AH, at the Regency on Van Ness. It was the first date with my wife, and if my memory isn't totally shot yet, I believe The Party was the second feature.

John, I was visiting at Castle AFB on TDY; believe the theater was either
on or near Market Street. Across the street was another theater showing
"2001: A Space Odyssey". After a short internal debate I chose to view
"Candy" and am glad I did, because I've never had the opportunity to
see it again, (unlike "2001"). - AH
It probably would not be as funny to someone born in the 70s though some of the characters would not be anachronistic.I called my local Block Buster and asked them to put it in.I am going to bug them a bit before I shell out the $30.If and when I see it I will report back.
