(1) What non-warfare movie featured the most bullets fired? My nomination
goes to Clint Eastwood's 1977 film, "The Gauntlet". If memory serves
correct, there were three distinct scenes with ferocious, prolonged gunfire: the first where a house was demolished by bullets; the second
where a car was riddled and destroyed, and third, where an armored bus
driven by Clint through downtown Phoenix,AZ was the object of a massive
bullet assault.(2) In the townpark fight scene of the 1971 film, "Billy Jack"; what kind
of karate kick did Billy Jack hit Mr. Posner's face with?
Take a look and you'll see why. Also, what is the definition of "warfare"; does it have to be sanctioned by the governments of countries? If not, then the first question is oxymoronic.
Films are usually fit into categories or genres: comedy, drama, westerns,
horror, war, and so on. These categories are usually in the background
of my mind when I make comments about movies or review them. It would be
unfair to pit war movies against other categories concerning the question
I asked; that's why I made that distinction. I realize there are "gang-
warfare" films and westerns that feature large conficts, like the U.S.
Army vs the indians, where many bullets fly around; but they just don't
compete with large scale military conflicts like WWI,WW2,Korea,Vietnam,etc.
BTW, have you seen "The Gauntlet" and compared it to "Hard Boiled" in
bullet terms?
Yes, we're talking about one bus vs. an entire hospital and arms warehouse. "Hard Boiled" probably beats out "Saving Private Ryan" in blanks and squibs used.
Most bullets fired in a non-war movie? Gotta go with Predator II. The scene hear the first of the movie where the cops are fighting the gang has to have more gunfire than ANY movie!
Billy Jack stood without shoes or socks on, in the townpark in broad
daylight facing Mr. Posner, while surrounded by a gaggle of Posner's goons.
He said to Posner, "Mr. Posner, you know what?" Posner replied contemptuously, "What?" Billy Jack pointed at his own right foot and said
in a measured, confident tone, "See this foot? I'm gonna take it and put
it on that side of your face (pointing to the right side of Posner's face),
and there's not gonna be a damn thing you're gonna be able to do about it."
Posner let out a small laugh and in a flash, Billy Jack swept up his
foot and executed an OUTSIDE CRESCENT KICK and his foot landed flush against the right side of Posner's face, knocking him to the ground.
Keep in mind that the outside of BJ's foot along it's edge it what made
contact with Posner's face. If BJ had executed an INSIDE CRESCENT KICK,
then he would have struck the left side of Posner's face with the inside
edge of his right foot. - AH
you may laugh at this one, but I remember that in the Matrix there was a scene where keanu and trinity unload an unbelievable amount of bullets in the lobby of a building.
Not sure how this compares to The Gauntlet, but the Deniro/Pacino film Heat had a long gunfire scene in downtown LA. Cop cars had pieces of metal falling off them due to being hit by so many bullets. No idea on 2nd question.
I saw "Heat", a good flick, but I don't think it outdoes "The Gauntlet"
bulletwise; recommend you watch "The Gauntlet" to draw your own conclusions- I think you'd be flabberglasted! As for the other question,
will post the answer a little later if no ones gets it right. - AH
