Not sure how this compares to The Gauntlet, but the Deniro/Pacino film Heat had a long gunfire scene in downtown LA. Cop cars had pieces of metal falling off them due to being hit by so many bullets. No idea on 2nd question.
I saw "Heat", a good flick, but I don't think it outdoes "The Gauntlet"
bulletwise; recommend you watch "The Gauntlet" to draw your own conclusions- I think you'd be flabberglasted! As for the other question,
