  The first is a live action nature film about an unlikely friendship between a deer and mountain lion.

  The second is one of the very best samurai films, beautiful and filmed in Panavision, but the video was never released in the U.S. I couldn't even find a copy of this in Japan last month. I ended up buying a bootleg VHS of a French release version, and it looked like crap.

  I'm waiting for "The Loved One". Hope Criterion does it. Also want "Swing Kids". I LOL when they exclaim, "Swing heil!" Good soundtrack, though. I really, really want "The Magic Christian".

      It was on Moviepix last year so I had the chance to refresh my years-old VHS copy. Lafayette Joyboy is definitely Steiger's weirdest role. I'd like to know the back-story on how he got it. That blonde perm and mincing are a hoot. Quite the stellar cast in cameo roles, too. I noticed that the Elton John video with Robert Downey was set in the house that served as Whispering Glades Reception. I believe it's the Harold Lloyd estate.

    Brain Candy pretty much came and went quickly, but I thought it was hilarious. I was one of the sound effects editors for Brain Candy and
    it was one of the few projects that I could work with all day long and still keep laughing at it. Favourite part: the cops in a stake out - one cop going on a tangent about "toast fucking."
