It is true that Gérard Depardieu doesn't need a vehicle. He is just all by himself. But it is unfortunate that no one cared to even try to provide such vehicle. For great as he is, it still leaves one wanting for some reasonable - well, perhaps not exactly story line - but something to hang your hat on.
As it is, Un pont entre deux rives is going nowhere. Two fine actors, well, OK, make it three, all wondering around, not sure what's next.
It also looks like it truly was filmed in the seventies. That spells: "Dated!".
So I would not say it is a waste, not with that sort of talent, but please, do better next time - will ya?
The director Frédéric Auburtin has a LOT of growing to do. He's got some good moments, but he is still in the gradeschool.
Great for the Depardieu fans, plus for older and abandoned ladies.
Follow Ups:
"When I was 16 I couldn't believe what an ass my father was.
When I became 21 I was astounded at how much he had learned in such a short time."(apologies to Mark Twain for not remebering the exact quote)
