My favorite genre. Aside from the Romero stuff I also like "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things", "Tombs of the Blind Dead", "Deathdream", and "Re-Animator".
Follow Ups:
1. I Walked With A Zombie (1943)2. White Zombie (1932)
3. Night of the Living Dead (1968)
4. Return of the Living Dead (1986)
5. Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn (1987)
5. The Serpent and the Rainbow (1984)
6. Dawn of the Dead (1979)
7. Re-animator (1985)
8. Army of Darkness (1992)
They seem to bend more toward eating humans.
Maybe not strictly zombies, but "parts is parts." If you watch these, bring an air sickness bag!
"Dawn of The Dead" is hands down winner. As far as blood/guts/horror goes, try the little known Kiwi bloodfest called "Bad Taste". Well worth a look if you can find a copy.
How about werewolves, afterall, they are pretty close to zombies? Try "Werewolves on Wheels". A few cool psych songs on the soundtrack too.
Cheers

By Anchor Bay, fine purveyors of many a forgotten film. Just send all the fans of "Lord of the Rings" that way and watch the puzzled expressions begin to unfold. Then, of course, there's his 'big budget' followup; 'Dead Alive'. Certainly a worthy contender in the genre.

they look more realistic than most other zombies that I've seen in
cinema. Do you know of any that match them for realism? "Real"
meaning a zombie that comes across as more multi-dimensional in
character than your average shuffler. - AHP.S.- you may want to check out the film, "One Flew Over The Cukoo's
Nest", where Jack Nicholson performs the "zombie shuffle" upon
returning from his punitive shock treatment!
Check out "Dellamorte Dellamore" (US-title: Cemetary Man) by Michele Suavi if you get the chance. It's kind of a philosophical horror comedy, if you please ;-)Best,
Thom

Not just one of best Zombie flicks, but one of my favorite B-movie of all time. Just soooo much fun!
I saw it on a flight to Japan and was stupefied...or maybe zombified!

I saw Frankenhooker and was ROFLMAO. The second viewing was not quite as enjoyable but rent it for a laugh.

Some say they are a little out dated but Dario Argento made some great Zombie Fliks! Great for a first date! :)
