...that Hill Street Blues premiered, forever changing the artistic face of television with its large ensemble cast, its arc stories, its jittery cameras and its flawed and frightened cops. I came in on the third year and loved every moment.clark
OK so it's not film!
Follow Ups:
Hill Street Blues was classic. Another less well known TV show, Crime Story, is sometimes overlooked; this show had the best finale ever: the bad guys were tricked to go to a "secret" US Army base out in the desert. When the bad guys arrived noone else was around, and while they pondered the situation, an A-bomb test proceeeded, vaporizing the army base.
Hi,
damn good show. What was the name of the cop that liked to bite? Was it Belker?I'll never forget the main character hollering,'not the leg, don't bite the leg'.
He was working undercover in a butcher shop, and a woman was testing for freshness by sniffing between the legs of the chicken. Belker says "I'd like to see you pass that test, lady!"
When Belker forgot his mother's birthday, Miss Davenport gives him her brooch and tells him he can pay her for the replacement. He grabs her hands, looks her straight in the eye and says, in the most earnest way possible, "Miss Davenport, you're as far from a dirtbag as they come."
