How did your wife get thru high school without reading it? I remember it was required reading for many years - probably government propaganda to indoctrinate America's youth to the wonderful world of capitalism in the post Mcarthy reign of terror :-). I saw a small piece of the special you were talking about (maybe 15 minutes) and I'll look for it again. I didn't appreciate the ending - you're right, a bit too abrupt.

The book was only 20 years old when I went through. It is pretty much standard reading in many schools now. There is a great message that Jessie relays - they look the same. I'd say they are the same they just look different.
